Why are lactation cookies so good?
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so if you want to put a smile on your face or a new mama you know, grab some lactation cookies here!
While the science is still out, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence about tasty lactation cookies that may help with milk production. They contain galactagogues which are ingredients thought to stimulate milk supply and are the basis for lactation cookies. Examples of galactagogue foods include:

•    Oats
•    Flaxseed
•    Brewer's yeast

"Galactagogues are substances that help increase mammalian milk production," says Sandra Arevalo, RDN, spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Check out this article for a more in depth analysis.
Common ingredients in Lacation cookies include:
  • Flaxseed meal - It has high quality fiber, Omega 3 fatty acids, and is a rich source of vitamins and minerals.
  • Brewer’s yeast – Helps maintain proper functioning of the digestive tract and includes chromium and B vitamins.
  • Raisins – Iron, potassium, copper, manganese, and B6 are tucked in those little powerhouses.
  • Walnuts – They include healthy fats and fiber.
  • Chocolate – It is also filled with antioxidants.
